How to Get a Couch Delivered in Toronto

Toronto is the hardest city in Ontario to deliver a couch into. Here is how to get it right the first time.

Measure before you buy

Measure the narrowest point on the route: the building door, the elevator opening, the apartment door and any turn in the hallway. A sofa needs roughly 5 cm of clearance on the diagonal to pivot.

For houses, check the stairwell landing. Most failed deliveries happen at a 90-degree turn, not at the front door.

Book the elevator early

Most downtown condos require a booked service elevator and a certificate of insurance from the delivery company. Book at least 48 hours ahead and confirm the loading dock height.

Choose delivery plus setup

Curbside delivery leaves you with a boxed sectional in the lobby. A pickup, delivery and installation service brings it into the room, assembles the legs and modules, and takes the packaging away.
